I'm nearly finished with the experiments, but I'm running into trouble on a few in the Space Station, and I was hoping to get some advice. Being hypnotized 15 times without a game over seems impossible, at least with all of the strategies I've tried. Any advice? Do I just need to get even more aphrodisiacs and spread out the events further? Do I actually need to enter the hypnotized state, or just get grabbed and escape 15 times? Also, for the life of me, I can't seem to get the Samus experiment no matter how many pulses I roll through.

That's a damn good game.The game looks good. The scenes are varied, the difficulty is challenging as one would expect of that kind of game, but beatable.
My completely unreasonable wish list for even more fun:
* Group attacks from enemies (at least from the same kind of enemies?) * The ending felt a little abrupt. While I understand the intention behind it, how about a boss fight, or a "final wave"? After all, all these experiments must be put to use. ;-)
Game plays great. Protag' looks good, and the customisation options are a welcome addition. H-scenes are strong off the bat. Quite a lot to experience out the door.
Brilliant work, overall. Would suggest more "exotic" ears/hats and "exotic" skin options for a wider appeal. u w u
This is an awesome game! I actually have always liked erotic horror/survival but there weren't too many options out there. I know you have probably been bombarded with suggestions, but if you were still looking for ideas, I would enjoy there being some kind of hospital or haunted house style level (Thinking something like Silent Hill maybe). Ghosts, Nurses, and Mannequins would be cool enemies. Really love the more brutal ones like the zombie grabbers and Jenny (might have mixed up the name). Also like the idea of like a captive enemy style galley that a person just below.
Of course feel free to do whatever you want, the game is already in a good position and as far as I can see it is worth the money (Just thought about while writing this, but an old gods/Cthulhu like map might be also really fun)
This game is great but my god I have such trouble survivng in literally anywhere but shack and the furry robot entertainment place. Any advice? The bugs in the cave are just too damn relentless not to start with like a glock or something but I cant survive long enough to get the cash for the power let alone the gun
For cave, there is a lamp near campfire, you can use it to light up dark areas. Save money and don't rush generator(it'll summon muscas). You'll need an automatic weapon. Shotgun or any semi-automatic weapon is not suitable for this mission. When you think you have enough money to move on, purchase generator and buy an automatic weapon preferably with lots of bullets in one mag. I suggest Bizon(2300$ something) which has 55 bullets. After buying weapon, save for Psycho.
For jungle, I advise shotgun(2300$ one) or the sniper. Sniper can kill 3 goblins with one headshot. Same with shotgun. Then you can buy Psycho. You can quick switch with "Q" to your pistol to disable traps. Don't spam roll too much. You can cheese them and fight near weapon selling machine and headshot them while they're climbing.
For space station, just buy the automatic glock on the wall and go gun blazing.
Thanks for the advice, though it is still frustrating to keep alive until the genny's on. Likely it's my terrible aim but the bugs are the biggest pain to hit. As for the Jungle, I had more trouble avoiding poison from the marksman goblin. And to be honest the space station was so unclear as of which door spawns the spider looking things.
I did notice that, but with them my biggest issue was simply knowing they were there. I get that's kinda the point, but I've got mildly impaired vision so getting grappled for what seems like no sense can be frustrating. Fair play for the challenge of it, just found myself grinding my teeth more often than I'd like. Otherwise I've found myself melting hours into this so far 'cause it's addictive as hell (personal favourite is the Death Hound, Jenny, and the Spider mother in terms of enemies.)
Just an idea but instead of just a gallery maybe a captured subjects for controlled testing. I think I remember something about fetishes and if so maybe playing with subjects has an extremely low chance to drop them.
Did you follow the copying instruction when you downloaded the newer version? Make sure the names of save files are the same. If the save file in the new version is 0kb, it means it's corrupted and dead. Make sure the game is closed while you copy.
Instructions... Oops. Silly me. Speaking of the gaming experience. I would like to suggest removing the reduction in strength when you are fucked while holding the "S" key or when you don't struggle (No mashing). The strenght will be spent on real actions, and not on its own. This will help make experiments easier without changing their condition. Now a lot depends on the randomness. Also, it makes sense. Ow. And some "fainted" rape animations. Its usable for "S" rapes and after mind break. It is a little strange to see her jump to her feet during a mind break when attacked by a fly, for example. Now there are already many locations and new animations diversify the game even more. But if the priority is precisely the new location, then I am not a decree to you. The game is already good! This is the witcher from the world of indie porn games! It is just rare to see the completed game, especially as it develops further.
Animating takes alot of time so creating most animations x2 just for the mind break is a little too much. If Strength reduction is stopped while holding S than the game will go on forever. The idea is that your Strength is drained by the actions of the one whos fucking you. There's a difficulty option too, just in case.
I have a suggestion regarding the status effects that pop up on the left side. They can really get in the way of the "active" parts of the screen. Say for example you've got the 3 buffs and then you get facehumped. The facehumper message covers over half that side of your character which makes it really hard to see facehumpers especially. So I have a few possible solutions for how to make it less obscuring:
A transparency slider for the popup windows
Have them be along the top or bottom of the screen
Have them movable by the user in the settings
Have them become transparent or semi-transparent if there is at least one enemy being obscured
Make the permanent buffs like psycho etc more like the status lights on cars with just a square image or something like that(auto-fire symbol for firerate, a bullet impacting for psycho and a laser pointer for the accuracy one for example). This would leave more room for temporary messages and would put semi-permanent ones further down so they hopefully don't block the view. You could also put the new squares somewhere else for even more room for the rest of the messages.
I think I know what you're talking about. The permabuff icons is a good idea. I will try that sometime. I could also try to apply word wrapping so longer status effects are multilined instead of everything in one line. Thanks for the ideas!

There's a bug with the new birthing system. If 2 different types finish at the same time (Fly/Fly egg or head humper/spider mother egg). The first birthing animation plays but instead of starting the next set afterwards it freezes in whatever animation you were in before the birthing started (running, standing etc)
As a sidenote I'm curious whether or not you'll be implementing stuff like bondage or tentacles and such in the future? I don't know what your interests are so I'm curious.
Bondage? I was never into it. But I can try to get into it. I know alot of people like it.
I like tentacles but doing tentacle animations is kinda hard considering I'm using skeletal animations. It's definitely possible but slightly harder than the average animation. Maybd I will add tentacles on a stage one day.
I´m really loving this game, but i do think there is a bug with the experiment "samus" i have counted successful dodges to over a 100 in a single game but still not completed
having trouble loading pass through the first screen after clicking play, any suggestions? Is it suppose to be a very long load? to expalin what happen I tried to do what the instructions have to told me to do to transfer my game save data, After toying it around my version started to load in windows mode(Unsure if that was intended for the update) and from there I click play proceed to entire the load screen, after usual wait time the back ground song will disappear leaving me with the long load animation. Guidance would be much appreciated since I really want to check out the new gallery mode and it would bum me out I won't get to experiences this new content or any possible future content.

Okay, got the game to run finally (thanks norton) and its great. Challenging but not impossible once you figure out a strategy for each area. A couple things that I'd like to see, if you feel like adding more stuff to the game, is a gallery mode, perhaps styled as a testing room and whomever captured the PC releases x enemy into the area for "testing" and either removed afterwards or is removed by commands, like interacting with a panel with F and adding/removing entities. As well as a "post broken" mode where the PC can't use any items but she can still walk around the area in something like a drunken walk cycle. Really like the game, good fun to play, and kinky as all hell XD

I've read them all, but I don't have the time or sanity to really sit down and go through every point using my full intelligence and attention. I'm taking it slow right now, and go step by step. Take your time, don't worry. yes game balance should be the first thing to add, but this is still a complete game for only 3 bucks vs a ton of unfinished games which milk people for years. That's also why many people liked it
If I may chip in not a game, but a management suggestion: You should write up a roadmap. No dates, no release shedule, just a list of things you are working on or planning to do, roughly ordered by how important or sure to be added they are.
In my experience, that's one of the most simple to add things there is, to reduce the influx of dupplicate ideas, and to asure people that there is more worthwhile stuff to come.
Some commendably quick balancing there, had trouble getting to wave 10 on Shack previously, but Casual, I quit after... 21? Yeah, 21, so that's good.
Haven't tried caves yet though, that's the real test, and I see you've got a fair amount of critique there already, as well as a fair amount of suggestions overall.
So this is just a note to say you've had a commendable early start on this, and I look forward to seeing what else you do with it.
Most people like FER stage the most. It's the most recent stage I've made as well, so things I had learned through the progress of developing this game is applied to that stage. Maybe thats why its the best, such as proper AI.
I had a good bit of difficulty with AI and pathfinding. Right around when starting on the FER stage I really solved some issues and started to create good pathfinding. That is why FER has the most complex paths and platforms out of all the stages, which in turn makes it an interesting stage to play.
I really gotta say this game is quickly becoming one of my favorites, great job on this my dude.
Your work really reminds me of old flash games like The Last Stand zombie shooter, which I think is really great. I think it really fills a niche in the NSFW game community that was just waiting to be filled, and I really hope your work inspires others to do the same.
Are you considering branching out to other platforms to advertise/create a presence? In my view it would be nothing but beneficial to have a Patreon, it would give you a good bit exposure than being on itch.io, and let people pitch in more consistently.
I think most of the suggestions and criticisms have already been said to death, maggots are unreasonably small & difficult to see, the cave in general is in need of balance, the jungle map is a bit big, etc etc. Any criticisms imo are heavily outweighed by how well done everything else is.
I'm not sure if you're aware, but a lot of discussion about this game has been going on in the F95zone forums, just in case you didn't know or something

I'm gonna be honest: I'm quite overwhelmed. Reading all the comments makes me a little dizzy, simply by the sheer number of cool ideas and kind words.
I'm currently a student following a pretty difficult computer scientist course, so I can't spend all of my time on Captivity. I slept 4 hours today and woke up to immediately start attending class (which I'm attending right now).
That's why Patreon is a bad idea I think. I can't consistently work on Captivity, and that's why I don't expect consistent money from generous people.

dude just, wow. Give yourself a break. You obviously have a ton of talent but burnout is real. I understand not having money, hopefully this game keeps gaining traction. I found out about this on f95, played the version they had then realized there were updates. I def bought this and have been seeing large improvements and am eagerly waiting for more.
I just bought the game and already put an unhealthy amount of time and focus into it. I read through some of the earlier comments and I can't believe this is your first game! Amazing work!
There have been a lot of good recommendations and compliments in the comments so far so I don't have a ton to add, but I don't think anyone mentioned the idea of bosses. With a wave-based game like this it's perfectly fine without bosses, but it can add a sense of buildup and progression, as well as a fifth enemy for stages. It could be neat if they would be manually triggered by the player either by a large cash sacrifice or by doing certain things like the statue in the jungle stage or like how Jackies appear when you open the backroom of the F.E.R., or just spawn every certain number of waves. I would say that killing a boss gives an alternative way for players to end a level, and beating a boss would give the option to exit or continue and it can track how early the player beat the boss or how many times they beat the boss in a single run, stuff like that.
To be frank though, the current variety is already great. The F.E.R. stage really blows it out of the water with what the enemies do. Can't wait to see what you do next!
Are there any plans to add multiple playable characters or body types like a THICC body option or Futa/Ts, also curious if high heels are a possible addition?
High heels are a bit difficult to implement, considering they player skeleton needs to change in height, maybe in the future. Adding multiple body types is possible, I will look into that one day. I think I will add the futa option as a wardrobe item you van put on.

The hypno experiment could be bugged, please wait for an update.
The samus experiment requires you to roll through 50 energy blasts from 50 different Sqoids, so you can't farm one Sqoid

My 1.0.4 saves doesn't work with 1.0.5b. What could be the problem?

Make sure youre playing the newest version.
I think your save file is corrupted. Go to C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\LocalLow\Perveloper\Captivity and delete the file xGameDb.db
Then start the game.
Gallery mode is not out yet.

Yeah, Caves are still a git to do, although I did at least manage to *meet* the Musca.

Most people like FER stage the most. It's the most recent stage I've made as well, so things I had learned through the progress of developing this game is applied to that stage. Maybe thats why its the best, such as proper AI.

I'm not actually a big fan of the SETTING of the last stage (not great, but tollerateable for me) but it's definitely the best in terms of gameplay.
I had a good bit of difficulty with AI and pathfinding. Right around when starting on the FER stage I really solved some issues and started to create good pathfinding. That is why FER has the most complex paths and platforms out of all the stages, which in turn makes it an interesting stage to play.

I really gotta say this game is quickly becoming one of my favorites, great job on this my dude.
Your work really reminds me of old flash games like The Last Stand zombie shooter, which I think is really great. I think it really fills a niche in the NSFW game community that was just waiting to be filled, and I really hope your work inspires others to do the same.
Are you considering branching out to other platforms to advertise/create a presence? In my view it would be nothing but beneficial to have a Patreon, it would give you a good bit exposure than being on itch.io, and let people pitch in more consistently.
I think most of the suggestions and criticisms have already been said to death, maggots are unreasonably small & difficult to see, the cave in general is in need of balance, the jungle map is a bit big, etc etc. Any criticisms imo are heavily outweighed by how well done everything else is.
I'm not sure if you're aware, but a lot of discussion about this game has been going on in the F95zone forums, just in case you didn't know or something

Wow, that forum got filled pretty quickly. The game is 2.5 days old and people are already so excited. I hope they realise I'm broke and are able to buy the game on here.
I'm gonna be honest: I'm quite overwhelmed. Reading all the comments makes me a little dizzy, simply by the sheer number of cool ideas and kind words.
I'm currently a student following a pretty difficult computer scientist course, so I can't spend all of my time on Captivity. I slept 4 hours today and woke up to immediately start attending class (which I'm attending right now).
That's why Patreon is a bad idea I think. I can't consistently work on Captivity, and that's why I don't expect consistent money from generous people.

dude just, wow. Give yourself a break. You obviously have a ton of talent but burnout is real. I understand not having money, hopefully this game keeps gaining traction. I found out about this on f95, played the version they had then realized there were updates. I def bought this and have been seeing large improvements and am eagerly waiting for more.

I just bought the game and already put an unhealthy amount of time and focus into it. I read through some of the earlier comments and I can't believe this is your first game! Amazing work!
There have been a lot of good recommendations and compliments in the comments so far so I don't have a ton to add, but I don't think anyone mentioned the idea of bosses. With a wave-based game like this it's perfectly fine without bosses, but it can add a sense of buildup and progression, as well as a fifth enemy for stages. It could be neat if they would be manually triggered by the player either by a large cash sacrifice or by doing certain things like the statue in the jungle stage or like how Jackies appear when you open the backroom of the F.E.R., or just spawn every certain number of waves. I would say that killing a boss gives an alternative way for players to end a level, and beating a boss would give the option to exit or continue and it can track how early the player beat the boss or how many times they beat the boss in a single run, stuff like that.
To be frank though, the current variety is already great. The F.E.R. stage really blows it out of the water with what the enemies do. Can't wait to see what you do next!

I'm overwhelmed with suggestions for the game right now, I'm gonna go step by step and the do things with priority first, such as a Gallery mode.
Are there any plans to add multiple playable characters or body types like a THICC body option or Futa/Ts, also curious if high heels are a possible addition?
High heels are a bit difficult to implement, considering they player skeleton needs to change in height, maybe in the future. Adding multiple body types is possible, I will look into that one day. I think I will add the futa option as a wardrobe item you van put on.
